Talk Title: AI in Glaucoma: Scope and Possibilities for Future Collaborative Research
Bio: Dr. Murali Ariga is a distinguished ophthalmologist in Chennai, specializing in glaucoma, lasers, Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), and phacoemulsification with premium Intraocular Lenses (IOLs). He serves as Director of Swamy Eye Clinic and Chennai Glaucoma Foundation and Senior Glaucoma Consultant at Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital. He also heads Ophthalmology at Sundaram Medical Foundation. Dr. Ariga holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), a Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology (MS), Diplomate of National Board (DNB), and is a Fellow of the All India Collegium of Ophthalmology (FAICO) in Glaucoma. He has international subspecialty training and community ophthalmology experience. With 44 publications, 10 book chapters, and the edited book "Practical Perimetry," he is a recognized authority. He contributes actively to research, including the CURES study, and presents globally. Dr. Ariga has received the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (IJO) Silver Award and Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association (TNOA) Dr J. Agarwal's Excellence in Teaching Award. He champions glaucoma awareness through public programs, highlighting his commitment to clinical practice and public health.

Bio: Dr. Prasanna Venkatesh Ramesh is a leading ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist, heading the Glaucoma Department and research initiatives at Mahathma Eye Hospital, Trichy, India. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Master of Surgery, and Diplomate of National Board, along with fellowships in glaucoma and cataract surgery. As a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of both the All India Collegium of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology, Dr. Ramesh has authored 52 articles and 12 book chapters, while serving on the editorial boards of the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and the Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association Journal of Ophthalmic Sciences and Research. He actively participates in the Young Ophthalmologists Society of India and the Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association. A recognized instructor and recipient of numerous awards, including the "Dr. S.K. Sundaramoorthy Memorial Grand Prize" and the "Prof C.P. Gupta Award," Dr. Ramesh's research explores advancements in glaucoma treatment through surgical techniques, minimally invasive procedures, and technologies like artificial intelligence.

Bio: Dr. Yogish Subraya Kamath is a Professor of Ophthalmology and currently heads the department at Kasturba Medical College-Manipal, India. He has an MBBS and MS (Ophthalmology) degree from Manipal University and completed his long-term Fellowship in Uveitis under Professor Rathinam, at the Aravind eye hospital, Madurai. His research interests include Ophthalmology and Systemic disease, Uveitis, and Ophthalmic diagnostics in Community. He has several research papers and grants on these topics. He is actively involved in teaching Ophthalmology to Undergraduates, Postgraduates and PhD students at his University, and is an anterior segment surgeon in the University hospital since 2006.

Talk Title: Impact of AI on Diagnosis Advancements: Vision-Related Systemic and Degenerative Diseases
Bio: Dr. Raghu Prasad leads AI & RD at Carl Zeiss India, with 12+ years of experience in digital healthcare. He's an expert in computer vision, AI, and machine learning, focusing on ophthalmology, oncology, and surgical navigation. Dr. Raghu has a strong record of innovation, holding 10 patents and authoring 25 publications. He previously held key roles at GE Healthcare and Philips Healthcare, where he spearheaded AI research initiatives and shaped product strategies. Dr. Raghu earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from IIT Madras and completed post-doctoral work at the University of Calgary, specializing in AI-powered surgical solutions.

Bio: Dr. Sanjay is an experienced Operations Analyst and Data Engineer with a PhD in Electronics Engineering. He currently leads a team at Carl Zeiss India Pvt Ltd, focusing on AI and Machine Learning in vision care R&D. With 15 years of experience in electronics, healthcare, and IT, Dr. Sanjay has authored 8 books and over 25 research articles. His expertise spans data solutions, research, and teaching. He holds an Indian patent for a geriatric care wearable device integrating AI and IoT. Dr. Sanjay is proficient in data analysis using Azure and Power BI.

Talk Title: Artificial Intelligence for Biomarker Extraction in Retinal Images
Bio: Dr. Vaanathi Sundaresan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS) , Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. She is also the convenor of Biomedical image Analysis (BioMedIA) laboratory at CDS, IISc. Prior to this appointment, she was working as a postdoctoral research fellow at Athinoula A. Martinos Centre, Department of Radiology, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. She received my doctorate degree at Oxford Centre for function MRI of Brain (FMRIB), Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (WIN), University of Oxford. Later, she continued her research at WIN as a Postdoctoral researcher, where she is currently affiliated as an Honorary Research Fellow. She has around 10 years of experience in open source tool development for medical imaging applications.

Talk Title: New Tricks for an Old Dog: Combining Traditional Computer Vision with Deep Learning for Ophthalmological Image Analysis
Bio: Dr. Gaurav Sharma is a Professor at the University of Rochester, holding appointments in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Biostatistics and Computational Biology. He is also a Distinguished Researcher in Data Science. Dr. Sharma previously directed the Center for Emerging and Innovative Sciences and worked as a Principal Scientist at Xerox. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and Masters degrees from NCSU and the Indian Institute of Science. A Fellow of IEEE, SPIE, and IS&T, Dr. Sharma has served as Editor-in-Chief for leading journals and has held numerous leadership positions within IEEE. His research interests include image processing, computer vision, and data analytics.

Bio: Dr. Thrasyvoulos N. Pappas is a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Northwestern University. His research focuses on perceptual models for multimedia processing, including visual, tactile, and acoustic texture analysis. He has made significant contributions to image and video compression, texture analysis for material identification, and content-based retrieval. Dr. Pappas is a Fellow of IEEE and SPIE, and has served as Editor-in-Chief for the IS&T Journal of Perceptual Imaging and the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. He is actively involved in the SPIE/IS&T Human Vision and Electronic Imaging Conference and has given plenary talks at prestigious conferences like ICIP.

Dr. Ganeshrao holds a Ph.D. in Vision Science from the University of Melbourne, focusing on Bayesian algorithms for peripheral vision assessment. Bio: Dr. Shyam is a highly accomplished technologist with a PhD in Real-Time High Performance Computing from the Indian Institute of Science. He has held leadership positions at Ericsson, Tata Consultancy Services, and Philips, where he spearheaded product development initiatives in wireless communications, medical electronics, and consumer electronics. Currently, he serves as CTO of ForUs, a medical device company, and Founder/Director of Renalyx and Rx DHP. Dr. Shyam is actively involved in academia, serving on governing councils of leading institutions and as a visiting faculty member. He also acts as Technical Director for Maastricht University Medical Center, Netherlands. With over 20 international patents and 40 publications, Dr. Shyam is a recognized expert in his field.

Bio: Dr. Rupesh Agrawal is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist specializing in uveitis and general ophthalmology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (Research) degree from University College London, Master of Medicine from Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. Currently, he leads research at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute and chairs the Research Talent Development Committee at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. With over 400 publications and an h-index of 60, he is a leading researcher focusing on ocular inflammation, infections, and imaging. Professor Agrawal is passionate about mentoring clinician scientists and leads impactful research projects including PROTON, COTS, and IGATES. He also holds Associate Professor positions at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medical School, and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, establishing himself as a prominent figure in ophthalmology.

Talk Title: Ophthalmic Image Analysis: From Classical Image Processing to Foundational VLMs
Bio: Dr. Chandra Sekhar Seelamantula is a Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering. His research interests span a wide range of signal processing applications, including speech, biomedical, and image processing, with a particular focus on sampling theory, compressed sensing, and AI for digital healthcare. He received his Ph.D. from IISc and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Dr. Seelamantula is a Senior Member of IEEE. He received the Outstanding Editorial Board Member Award (2022) from IEEE Transactions on Image Processing and the Digital Health prize at the National Bio-Entrepreneurship Competition in 2018.
